I see the road s t r e t c h out and I think "Move. Go. Take what means the most to you and run. Put your foot down. Don't let anything stop you from leaving. Don't contain the words or feelings or words or emotions: you're free now. Free to run, climb, drive, j

Feel blinded by the over whelming sensation of joy and freedom. or find where you want
Low,
to go. This is what you have dreamed of, so go get it. Whether it's warm or cold, brighter than a thousand suns, or darker than the night, welcome it".
From the early years of my life, this dream has grow with me, over my shoulder, always there, whether I knew of it or not. Films and music inspired the feeling: wanderlust, longing to escape and see it all. I've wanted to climb mountains, jump from planes, and drive long abandoned roads, really experience the world in the best way possible. In my young years, limited by the law and inexperience, i have been held back to merely dreaming of this journey, longing to explore and counting down until the clock strikes the hour that i can leave. Leave everything behind. The same life that i have always lived, the same town i rarely leave, and its boring lack of excitement, and the people holding me back. I want to live life at its fullest, and so far, my home town is holding me back. This is a story i want to tell my children, and to theirs. Be the man who did it all, the man who traveled the world. The free man.

This is a piece that I wrote, on the them of escapism, and my attitude to it. I carted it when trying to figure out a way to strengthen my concept, and the way that I could present, meaning that this writing piece serves as an artist statement. It could also count as a final piece itself, using writing as a medium very different to what you would usually expect.
It was written completely from scratch, with no planning prior to writing it all down. I had been given a time limit to write it in, so I just wrote down anything that I could think of, trying to show my ideas and thoughts on escapism as best I could, to help the viewer understand how I felt.
I am very happy with how it turned out. I believe that it can help the viewer understand my thought and feelings about escaping very well, and how committed I am to the idea of it, showing why this is such a passionate project for me.
