Artists Research for my project
These are all artists that I found when trying to find someone who's work relates to dream art. This is because the work that I am doing is based upon dreams of my own, therefore meaning it fits into the category of dream art. i wanted to see how other artists created art based on their dreams to see if they used bizarre mediums or methods to present them, ad then try and emulate those things into my work.
The following few images are just pieces gathered by random artists that I liked. I liked how they used abstract shapes and colours in their pieces and wanted to do the same in my work. However it is clear that these pieces were painted (online most likely), and I later decided in my project that wanted these pieces to use more abstract and different mediums to just paint, which i have used a lot in the past.

There are a few of the earlier ideas that I have had for the dream art final pieces in my project, these ideas being:
- A couple sat in a car (portrayed from behind), driving into a large sunset which fills the majority of the piece, bringing colour and a sense of positive mood into the piece, reflecting on how the couple in the car feel.
- A couple sat on the edge on a cliff edge watch the sunset, cuddled up together to create a sunset of comfort and warmth between the couple and the scenery the piece is depicted in. The background features a forest, the trees far below filling the scene which builds up halfway into a large colourful sunset, full of clouds and birds.
- A single person is lying down stargazing over the night sky, in an empty scene, a flat field that goes on into the distance with no trees or anything. The stars being gazed on have been captured as if in slow motion, the lines of light spreading across the image, creating a beautiful array of light and shape, the night sky with be full of dark colours and depth.
- A person is sat on a canoe, using the canoe to the steer through a clear and still ocean, the night sky's colour and stars reflecting into the water.
- A person is shown climbing up the edge of a cliff, and in the background behind them can be seen a bright and colourful sunset, birds flying in large groups, a few clouds in the sky. On the ground will be a forest, and other rocky areas close by.
So, with all over these ideas in mind, I would like to find an artist that does work similar to this so that I can see what mediums they use, and how I could better develop my ideas.
The first artist that I have found is an Indonesian artist called Firda Istania. She has created pieces such as 'Childhood Dream' and 'On The Roof'.
What I like about this image is all of the bright colours that build up the image, and all of the detail that has gone into each area, and the way that the shading and use of colour creates depth. I also like that the image is taken from a perspective suggests it is us the viewer that it having the dream, and not just stood on the side watching the person having the dream. What i may include from this piece of work in my work is the way that they have used the colours to create depth, and the softness of some areas and how it creates a soft mood.
What I like about this image is how engaging it is. The colour palette and use of light really drags you in, and creates a sense of wonder and awe for how full it is of stars and planets, and light. I also like how detailed the piece is to make it appear as realistic as possible, and create depth by bringing making the parts they want to appear closer more detailed. This piece relates quite well to the final piece idea I had of a couple watching the sunset over a cliff edge, and the person stargazing under the night sky.
